Camden: Spanish MAT Program in Salamanca, Spain
Salamanca, Spain (Outgoing Program)
*Summer 2017 information to be released shortly.
Spanish MAT Program in Salamanca, Spain (June 30 - July 31, 2016)
The Spanish MAT program in Spain offers the unique opportunity to experience the educational curriculum of one of the oldest universities in Spain, the University of Salamanca (year 1218), one of the most influential linguistic centers in the world. The MAT at the University of Salamanca designs the standards for Spanish as a Second Language at the most prestigious global institute dedicated to this subject, the Cervantes Institute. Students will have the ability to experience this pedagogical opportunity with fellow educators from all over the world.
Trip Highlights include the opportunity to experience the monumental, Renaissance campus that invented the notion of a Spanish Grammar (the first method was published by this university in 1492). Learning Abroad in Salamanca provides the ability to engage in a global education community of teachers of the same subject, Spanish, from all over the world, in one of the most beautiful, affordable, and safe cities in Spain. A Rutgers faculty member, onsite, will oversee all aspects involved with the program. Students will also be able to experience an international theater festival and explore the pedagogical implications of this exclusive event. The program also includes two cultural trips to Madrid and Almagro/Lisbon.
Students can choose to stay with a family or in a graduate dorm. All meals are included.
Students will reside primarily in Salamanca, a city located in the western part of Spain, close to the border with Portugal, 200 kilometers west of Madrid. The program provides the choice of accommodation (family or graduate dorm). All meals are included.
