Rutgers School of Nursing–Camden Clinical in Haiti

This program is open to Community Health nursing students. Click "Apply Now" to complete the application. For more information about this course and travel experience, please contact Dr. Renee Cantwell (cantweer@camden.rutgers.edu).

The Program:
A current focus in healthcare and nursing is caring for populations of patients, not just individuals. A global community health experience then serves many purposes: it strengthens the concepts of population and global health, as well as provides service-learning opportunities within a community of individuals with diverse needs. Students will see first-hand the differences in healthcare when compared to our own system. These global experiences help develop the nurse as a professional. Critical thinking is enhanced through actively learning to solve problems. Students will also learn to provide and manage care for underserved populations who have very limited resources in diverse settings - concepts which can be applied to many areas of the United States. Currently, the agenda includes hospital, pediatric, community, and orphanage visits.
